Lindby Nominated for “Best Pop Act” and “Best EP” by The Fort Worth Weekly
We are incredibly honored to announce that Lindby has been nominated for “Best Pop Act,” and our latest project, “Christmas with Lindby & Friends,” has been nominated for “Best EP” on The Fort Worth Weekly‘s Music Awards Ballot!
Now comes the part where we ask all of you, the viewers (of this post), to ROCK THE VOTE and help us out by placing a vote for us HERE
In addition to the nomination, we also visited Eagle Audio Recording Studios this past Saturday to record a track for the The Fort Worth Weekly‘s Music Awards Compilation CD. Here is what the Weekly has to say about the comp CD:
“As part of Music Awards every year, we also corral a bunch of nominees, ply them with free food and booze, and force each of them to record a live track for us at Eagle Audio Recording on the Near Southside. We then compile the tunes into a CD that we sell for charity. Through the $5-a-pop sale of our comps over the past several years, we’ve raised nearly $5,000 for our charity sponsors: SafeHaven of Tarrant County and the Tarrant Area Food Bank. Our 2013 comp is coming along just swimmingly. Get ready for new or previously unreleased tracks from Big City Folk, The Breakfast Machine, The Diabolical Machines, Dru B Shinin’, Ice Eater, Jacob Furr & The Only Road, Lindby, The Longshots, Missing Sibling, Patriot, Siberian Traps, Sonic Buffalo, Un Chien, We’rewolves, Year of the Bear, and a few more.”
Also, we will be playing at The Fort Worth Weekly‘s Music Awards Festival on Sunday, June 23 in the West 7th corridor. The venue and time is still TBA, but we will let you know as soon as we do!
PHEW! VERY exciting things happening around here. Not to mention all of the recording, and preparing we’re doing for upcoming shows! Again, HERE is the link for voting on the Music Awards and stay tuned for more updates as they come. Thanks everyone!
Mortal Kombat Jazz Kombat
Exactly 7,168 days ago, Mortal Kombat was released on the Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, Gameboy, and Sega Game Gear on a day that will be forever remembered as MORTAL MONDAY. To celebrate MORTAL MONDAY, Lindby is releasing our jazzy, Satchmo & Captain Beefheart-inspired version of the Mortal Kombat theme FOR FREE on our bandcamp page. Check it out, love your mother, and Happy MORTAL MONDAY to all!
It’s back to the studio we go! Here are a few shots of Logan laying down some fresh beats for some upcoming Lindby projects AND the upcoming Lindby/DOUG FUNNIE mixtape.
(McCormick came inside to see what all the racket was about). Twas a great session! Stay tuned for more updates as we keep recording, and get ready for many, many collaborations in the very near future!
Peace! Love, Lindby
A long, long time ago…
…in a house on Atwood Drive, three high school freshmen decided it would be fun to start a band. Enter Nick Spurrier, Stuart Hausmann, and Nick Goodrich. The three would go on to do amazing things (eat Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans, get the cops called on them, etc), write amazing songs (Move On – a virtual powerchord symphony, Furnination – a song based off of Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, etc), and play amazing shows (the 3-song set during Mrs. Baker’s Freshman English class, The various FMHS talent shows, etc).
Why is this important? Why does this matter? What does Mrs. Baker have to do with anything and where is she now? Well, ten (10) years ago (that’s ONE DECADE, PEOPLE!), this happened:
That’s right, folks. “Lindby” (even though back then we were known as “5 In The Eye”) was, for all intents and purposes, born ten (10) years ago yesterday. We have seen a LOT of members come and go over the years, and we have truly treasured each practice, gig, recording session, road trip, etc we’ve had with them. We really could not have gotten to where we are today without each and every one of them, and for that we say say thank you! For those of you reading this who have stuck it out with us throughout the years, thanks for hanging in there with us. Again, we could never have done it without you. Your patience, support, and love have really kept us going. For those of you who are relatively new to Lindby, thanks for your support as well! We have really been encouraged by your love, spirit, and kindness towards us and we have some FANTASTIC things in store for you (well everyone, really). It has really been a wild and crazy ride for us and we feel like we’re only getting started. So raise your goblet of rock, and join with me in saying:
Happy 10th, Lindby!
P.S. If you want to check out the FANTASTIC work of Stuart Hausmann (music and artwork – he did the cat painting for the ERIKSON album cover), check out his WEBSITE and follow him on TWITTER.

Lola and Bowser
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Two Lindby updates for everyone:
1. Logan Bowers is taking over on drums for Tanner. Tanner is stepping down from drumming to focus on his electronic music and is still going to be a part of Lindby in that aspect. Soon you will be able to see him live at Lindby shows, but in a way you’ve only dreamed about. Stay tuned in to Lindby news for more on that subject as it develops!
Logan is extremely excited to be a part of Lindby’s future and is already going to be playing with us at the Lola’s show on January 26. He is currently attending UTA, pursuing a major in jazz studies, and has been drumming since the 6th grade. Come on out and see Bowser (that’s Logan) throw down on the drums!
2. Lindby is SUPER excited to announce our monthly residency at Lola’s! Every first Wednesday of the month, Lindby will be rocking the house on down with two other acts at 6th Street’s terrifically JAWSOME venue. Come on out and rock with us and, if you dare, take on Goodrich’s Galaga score (currently 3rd place all-time on the Lola’s machine). BRING IT!
